The Norwich Family YMCA received a financial contribution to purchase an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) for use in the new YMCA. The gift presentation was on behalf of OSG Norwich Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and their Community Contribution/Employee Team. The Team works together to determine contributions made to the community on behalf of the Company.

The purchase of an AED for the YMCA is the Teams annual contribution for major equipment acquisition. Last year OSG contributed to the purchase of equipment for the Norwich Fire Department and partnered with the Norwich Emergency Squad to purchase one of the decontamination showers for Chenango Memorial Hospital.

Executive Director, Jamey Mullen states that the YMCA continues to make improvements to its new facility, and this is one meaningful improvement that we are able to make due to the generosity of OSG Norwich Pharmaceuticals, Inc. The purchase of an Automatic External Defibrillator will help us save lives. Annually, nearly 250,000 Americans die from sudden cardiac arrest. With the introduction of AED’s it is estimated by the American Heart Association that nearly 50,000 lives can be saved.

It is our goal to purchase AED’s for use in the YMCA. We hope that this financial investment will save lives. Mullen states “We will work with the Norwich Fire Department to assure that our future AED purchases are compatible with all equipment being used by the City of Norwich Fire Department, as this in return will save time and lives”.
